Here’s SYMPLE in one sentence: a company that uses voice AI and digital mental health technology to help notice change before people break down.
We are not trying to surveil people’s minds. We start from the fact that neither burnout nor attrition is decided overnight. Change begins gradually, well before. If we can notice that change a little earlier, both individuals and organizations gain more options.
The problem we solve
When an important team member decides to leave, the organization only then starts looking for reasons. Too much work? Not enough reward? A relationship problem?
But people’s experience isn’t that sudden. Before it, changes have already accumulated: “I feel no accomplishment lately,” “weekends don’t restore me anymore,” “just going to work feels heavy.” The problem is that the moment an organization recognizes this is usually far too late.
We cover this problem in detail in Early detection of employee burnout.
Our approach: observe the change
SYMPLE’s approach is to look at change relative to a personal baseline rather than absolute scores. People differ in their usual speaking rate, way of expressing themselves, and the rhythm of their condition. So instead of applying one standard to everyone, we observe “what, and in which direction, is changing” against each person’s usual state.
One of the signals used here is voice. The voice carries not only the content of words but also how they are spoken (pitch, speed, pauses, quality), and this can connect to one’s state. The full principle is in the Complete Guide to Voice Biomarkers.
What we build: KKEBI and Duck’s Dream
SYMPLE builds two products.
KKEBI — voice-based mental care for workplace members. Members reflect on their state through short voice check-ins, and the AI tracks each person’s change from signals in conversation and voice. Rather than individual counseling content, the organization receives group-level trends and risk factors it can reference.
Duck’s Dream — an app that provides routines for recovering from everyday stress. It focuses on recovery and care before the mind breaks down.
Our principle: trust first
In employee mental health technology, what matters as much as accuracy is who can see what. If a company can see individual-level data, no one will honestly reveal themselves.
So SYMPLE designs like this:
- For individuals, we provide understanding of their own state and change.
- For organizations, we provide only group-level change and risk factors that make individuals hard to identify.
Where we started
SYMPLE is a digital mental health startup that originated at Yonsei University. Rather than technology that discovers problems after people have broken down, we want to build technology that notices change before they do.

Frequently asked questions
- What is SYMPLE?
- SYMPLE is a Korean mental health tech startup that uses voice AI and digital mental health technology to notice small changes in people earlier. It builds KKEBI, voice mental care for the workplace, and Duck's Dream, a stress-recovery routine app.
- What problem does SYMPLE solve?
- Burnout and the loss of key talent build gradually, but organizations and individuals usually notice only at an already-late point — a resignation notice or a drop in performance. SYMPLE researches technology that observes change relative to a person's usual state, so it can be noticed before someone breaks down.
- What products does SYMPLE have?
- Two. KKEBI is a voice-based mental care service for workplace members, helping individuals reflect on their state through short voice check-ins. Duck's Dream is an app that provides routines for recovering from everyday stress.
- Does SYMPLE hand an individual employee's data to the company?
- No. SYMPLE does not provide an individual's sensitive data to the organization as-is. It gives individuals understanding of their own state and change, and gives organizations only group-level trends and risk factors that cannot identify a specific person.
